Help with an addiction
S
ometimes people with low self esteem find themselves needed help with an addiction. This doesn’t This doesn’t always have to be drugs or alcohol.
And to me the definition of an addiction is just the formation of a habit. And habits are hard to break.
It could be anything from sex, to food, to porn, to drama, to work. Believe me low self esteem can show up in a lot of different places in your life.
And the sad thing is, not many people realize or admit that their really just suffering from low self esteem. A very common problem among men and women, young and old.
That’s why if you or anyone you know go to get help with an addiction, whatever form it may be, you’re going to find out that it has to do with having low self esteem.
And that’s how you became addicted in the first place. That’s also why you feel so empty and compelled to participate in negative activities.
Someone with high self esteem has self love, self acceptance, self compassion and self respect. Don’t get me wrong someone with high self esteem could need help with an addiction. But not usually one that would harm them personally.
So if you are suffering with an addiction I want you to please seek help for it. It doesn’t matter what it is there is a program out there for it.
And now with the internet you can find help, advice, information, and solutions to almost any addiction.
I’m surly not trying to underestimate the power of habit, but me and most of my immediate family members suffered from alcoholism.
It started with my grandparents. Then my parents. Then myself and my sisters.
My dad was an alcoholic until he was 40. My mom until she was about 32. I suffered from alcoholism until I was 22. And I have a sister who is still suffering from alcoholism.
So I know firsthand how devastating it can be to live with an addiction. That’s why I pray that if you’re suffering, that you find the help you need to concur your addiction and ultimately find your true self.
Because the person who needs help with an addiction is not you. It’s not who you were meant to be in this world. God never created us to suffer. He created us to thrive.
It’s just a side road you have found yourself on from taking a wrong turn. From making a wrong choice. Or from associating with the wrong people.
But now it’s up to you to get back on the main highway of life and start living a life that doesn’t revolve around your addiction.
A life full of passion and juice. A life full of happiness and excitement.
It might seem like a long shot right now but I can almost guarantee that you are suffering from low self esteem first and your addiction second.
And if you go get help that is one of the very first things you’re going to discover about yourself. And to fully recover from an addiction you must take all the steps in the correct order.
The first step is honesty and acceptance of your addiction. The second step is to get help. The third step is recovery.
If you need some inspiration read Harry’s self esteem story. He’s been there and he made it all the way through to recovery. And you can too, with the right attitude and the right help.
You’ll be surprised by who you’ll become in the process. I’m not the same person I was when I was drunk. My dad is not the same person. And you won’t be either.
My sister who is still suffering is not the person she was created to be.
But life sometimes seems too much or not enough and instead of looking within, we focus on without.
We focus so much on the external factors of life that we can’t change and instead of accepting things the way they are we get frustrated and turn to negative outlets as a way to release our negative feelings.
Like our childhood, our skin color, who are parents are, where we grew up, and how much money we had or didn’t have.
We ask ourselves question life, why me? Does anyone care if I lived or died? Do I care if I live or die? Why does life have to be so hard? Why wasn’t I born rich?
But none of that matters. None of that external stuff is the point of life. It’s all meant to help you grow and expand internally.
But unfortunately, a lot of people don’t get the message; they pull away and cave in to their addictions. And ultimately find themselves needing help with an addiction. It becomes life or death.
I sincerely hope that each and every one of you who are suffering with an addiction find the help you need to overcome your addiction and live the life that God intended for you to live.
