Your very own personal development journal
I know we all like to read books, courses and journals of what other people write as a way to grow as a person. And that is a very effective way. It’s a great way to build a solid foundation.
But the #1 best writings to read are the words of your very own personal development journal. These writings will help take you back to times in your life when things were clicking. Money was rolling in. Bills were paid on time. Love life was rocking. Family was inseparable. What, you don’t recall any of this? Oh, that’s because the good times are easy to forget. Most of us dwell so much on the negative from the past and present that it consumes us and our journals. But what it you could focus on the positive? I wanted to talk about the positive entries in your personal development journal first because (in my personal opinion) we don’t use our journals enough when life is good. It’s a shame really. You should record your successes and your failures. Because these journal entries would help you get past a setback in your life. They’ll remind you of how good life can be when everything is flowing effortlessly in and out. It’ll give you motivation and inspiration to keep moving forward. Keep pushing onwards and upwards. Theses journal entries will help you grow as a person. They help you remember what you’ve been through and what you’re capable of going through. It makes you stronger and more aware of your own personal strength. You own personal power. Okay, I think I got my point across. I hope so because these positive entries can help you stay focused on progress and personal development. Now lets talk about the negative, sad or unpleasant journal entries. Because these entries are also important too. Keeping a personal development journal will teach you a lot about yourself. It’ll show you patterns that keep repeating themselves in your life over and over again. Once you can see the pattern, you can change it. All these negative and positive entries are invaluable. You cannot learn the depth of your own soul by reading someone else’s work. But you most definitely can by reading your own. If you can commit to writing in your journal 2 or 3 times in a 7 day period you will learn a great deal about yourself. You’ll discover why you feel uninspired or unproductive on some days. But you’ll learn what makes the difference for you on the days when you feel completely powerful and totally sure of yourself and what you’re capable of accomplishing. A personal development journal is a great way to build a deep loving relationship with yourself. The relationship that trumps all the others. The self esteem building relationship. The commitment and the discipline it takes to develop as a person, to grow, to mature, to expand your thinking, to stop blaming others, stop complaining and to take full responsibility for your life is a completely personal experience. You have to do it for yourself. Now (as you already know) I like to end my articles with a task for you to do. It deepens your experience. Here it is… Take out your personal development journal and make an entry. It can be about whatever comes to mind. If nothing does. Write about how this article made you feel. What it inspirered you to do. How it challenged your thinking. One more thing, your journal can be anything from a single piece of paper to a $50 journal you can buy with a lock and key. The point is, you can use anything to get started. Just keep your entries together and upgrade when you’re ready. Keeping your entries together will help when you journey back in time when you need a little help, encouragement, enlightenment or motivation to keep going. Yes personal development books will help you do all these things. But not nearly as quick and effective as your own words.
