Positive Outlook
Question
I am coming from a divorce and unhappy marriage for a number of years. Since then the amount of financial, family (I have raised) pressures have really drained me emotionally and physically.
I have become a "control freak" as I have had nothing but constant stress.
I am really struggling to find "my place" and be happy. Can you give advice?
Answer
First of all you need a way to release all the negative energy built up inside of you. You can do this by journaling; it’s the easiest and least expensive way to let it all out.
Journaling will help free you of your constant stress because you are most likely stressed about issues that are the same or pretty close.
So it’s the same negative thoughts and feelings that you experienced before that keep showing themselves every chance they get. So you’re living your life in reaction instead of response. Which is a huge difference.
One causes huge amounts of stress and the other creates peace of mind. Which is what you need right now.
So I would suggest you get a notebook and start writing down everything – the divorce, heartache, fears, regrets. If you’re afraid someone might read this then burn it or shred it, as long as you get it out of your head so you can make some room for some positive thoughts.
Once you get all these stressors out of the way and you can relax. Use your journal to write down all your hopes, dreams, goals and desires.
