10 self help skills

Here are 10 self help skills that will take you from where you are now to where you want to be. If life feels like a choir, like something you have to do instead of something you get to do then you're not living your authentic self.

Your acting as your egoic self and really not experiencing life to its fullest. Get to know yourself on a deeply intimate level and you will live a richly meaningful life.

Trust me when I say that living your life from that deeper level you can be, do or have anything your heart desires.

Self help skill 1

Change your body language. If you walk with your head down, shoulders slumped forward and a frown on your face - STOP! Yes, stop it right now. Walk as if you are the happiest and most energetic person on this planet and you'll feel a difference in your attitude immediately.

Maybe you'll have to fake it at first but not forever. Just take it one day at a time.

Self help skill 2

Stop criticizing yourself. You are no longer allowed to put yourself down when you make a mistake, when you forget to do something or even if you spill an entire cup of coffee on your shirt before work.

I don't care what you do. That's it. No more harsh or negative name calling. Got it? Good, let's move on.

Self help skill 3

Never allow another person to determine your mood. You cannot allow others to have that much control over you. It's unnecessary and completely avoidable.

If you constantly allow the people around you to make you angry, sad, irritated or stressed out then you're going to feel like crap all the time.

You can't change the people around you. But you can change how you react to them.

Self help skill 4

Prepare your day in advance. I'm not talking about your to-do list. I'm talking about something deeper than that. Like a category of improvements list.

Set an intention for each area of your life that you want to improve on. For example, your categories could be physical, emotional, health, family, spiritual, financial, etc.

Use these categories to set intentions for the day. Trust me you'll be a lot happier and more productive if you spend some time during the day doing what you want to do.

Self help skill 5

Don't major in minor things. Do not allow yourself to be consumed with the things that ultimately don't matter.

Don't gossip, it only make you feel good in the moment and then crappy later. Don't argue for the sake of arguing you're not going to accomplish anything great.

Don't get caught up in other people's drama it drains your energy and fuels all kinds of negative emotions inside of you.

Self help skill 6

Allow yourself to accept compliments from others. If someone gives you a compliment, don't interrupt them by saying something negative about yourself.

Let them finish, accept it and say thank you. It will make both of you feel good.

So many times we give or receive compliments and their not accepted. It's so much easier for us to accept the negative things people say about us and disregard the positive complements.

Until now!

Self help skill 7

Make it a daily habit to compliment someone else. But when you do, honestly mean it.

Don't just say it to hear yourself talk. Actually say something to another person that you truly want to compliment them on.

This may be difficult at first but the more compliments you give the better you'll feel.

Self help skill 8

Take the time to master a skill in your like that your passionate about.

This can be anything from cooking, to playing softball, to writing, to marketing, to hunting, fishing or raising kids.

Anything that fires you up at the core of your being and leaves you feeling energized for hours or even days afterwards.

Most people dabble here and dabble there. They never take the time to master anything. They just jump from one thing to the next and hope that this finally makes them happy.

Mastering a skill takes time but if your passionate about it it feels like play instead of work. It's something you get to do instead of something you have to do.

Self help skill 9

Become your own best friend. Do things for yourself that you wish others would do.

Do you wish someone would send you flowers? Then send yourself flowers. Do you wish someone would compliment you? Then give yourself a compliment.

There's nothing wrong with treating yourself with kindness, respect and admiration. You can be your biggest fan!

And last but certainly not least...

Self help skill 10

Make it a habit of going above and beyond what you think you are capable of doing. And what others think you are capable of doing.

Don't just do what people expect you to do, take it at least one step further and wow them.

This works great on yourself as well. Don't just do what you expect yourself to do, do a little more and you'll be overjoyed by the results.

I bet you can do more than your currently doing, you just haven't pushed yourself beyond your comfort zone.

I hope these 10 self help skills will help you become a happier, healthier and wealthier version on yourself.

If you just shoot for being a better you then you were yesterday then your life will be very rich and meaningful to you and the people around you.

Never settle for being less you can be, it doesn't benefit anyone. You and the people around you will reap the benefits of you being your true and authentic self.

Not only will you feel truly happy and blessed but you will inspire the people around you to be their best. Because people do what you do not what you say.

Do you want the people around you to look up to you? Then show them how to live their best life by living yours.
