You always get to choose.

When I start feeling down and sorry for myself and just want to curl up and not do anything, I know I need to do just the opposite. I need to take action and get out of my comfort zone.

If I am down on myself about my weight, I need to go to the gym, even if I’d rather not show my face there, because “I haven’t been there for so long, it is embarrassing,” or “I don’t have the body to be working out at a gym. What will other’s think?”

If I am feeling lonely because all my friends and family are busy, then I need to figure out where to go to meet new people, or do maybe something nice for a friend or family member.

The point is, we are in charge of how we respond to our emotions. We can choose to be victims of them or we can choose to use them as a learning tool and guide us to what we need to do.
